What If Your Energy Was Louder Than Your Words?

In my NIV version of the Hebrew Bible, the first mention of the word “loud” appeared in the story of Esau and Jacob, two brothers wanting their father’s blessing, centered around betrayal. We begin the story being told Isaac is old, he could no longer see, and told Esau, Isaac’s son, he does not know the day of his death. Isaac asks Esau to go hunt some wild game for him, so Isaac can give his blessing to Esau before he dies. Rebekah, Isaac’s wife, overheard Isaac and Esau’s conversation, and told Jacob, her son, about the conversation. Rebekah told Jacob to choose two young goats, so she can prepare the food the way Isaac likes it, and then Jacob can receive Isaac’s blessing before he dies. Jacob shares his rebuttal, that Esau is a hairy man, while Jacob has smooth skin, and wonders what would happen if Isaac, Jacob’s father, touches him. Jacob worried that he would be cursed and would not receive a blessing. Rebekah tells Jacob not to worry about the outcome and she would handle it. Jacob did what he was told and Rebekah prepared the food, and Rebekah took the best clothes of Esau, Rebekah’s son, and put the clothes on Jacob, covering his smooth skin with goatskins. Rebekah handed Jacob the food and bread she prepared, and he went to his father Isaac with what was prepared. Isaac asks Jacob who he is and Jacob tells Isaac he is Esau and to sit up, eat his food, so Jacob can receive Isaac’s blessing. Isaac gave Jacob his blessing and Esau returned from his hunt, preparing his food and presenting it to Isaac. Esau approaches Isaac with the same request of Jacob, and Isaac trembles in fear of what has occurred. Isaac explains to Esau that he already gave out his blessing and Esau bursts out with a loud and bitter cry, asking Isaac to bless him as well.

I already went too long with the story, but I hope you have an understanding of what the story is about. Isaac was looking for growth, Esau went to receive clarity from Isaac on his next steps in life, and Rebekah and Jacob deceivingly expressed themselves to win Isaac over. The personal physical transformation Jacob underwent to receive Isaac’s blessing was one done in silence. The transformation inspired by Rebekah caused an internal shift in family dynamics, and the visible lineage of the Abrahamic blessing. Jacob did not win Isaac over by announcing himself, but rather through the feeling and scent of Jacob’s presence. Though Isaac had his doubts of Jacob presenting himself as Esau, he chose against the noise he was hearing and trusted the energy, aura, and frequency of Jacob’s misleading existence. To Isaac, Jacob’s presentation was clear to him, Jacob’s presented himself as Esau clearly, and his intention was fulfilled by receiving the blessing he wanted. I believe Rebekah urged Jacob to develop spiritually into the person he was meant to be, a deceitful patriarch who later excelled to build an influential family. I believe though Jacob didn’t have the same strengths of Esau, he used his power in a way that was unseen to Isaac, showing up as a character he was not, but the person he was.

Louder Exploration

In Esau and Jacob’s story, the author does not hold back from showing Jacob’s personality, even from a young age. In the story of their birth, Esau and Jacob are twins, yet Esau comes out of the womb first. However, Jacob is described as clinging to the heel of Esau as he is born, the action that gave him the name Jacob. In Hebrew, Jacob has a few meanings, “he who grabs the heel”, “he who supplants or replaces”, and “he who deceives”. I believe all of these meanings of Jacob, show up in his life, whether or not they are self-fulfilling prophecies or not, but I don’t think they all showed up immediately when Jacob was born. I believe Jacob’s growth into who his mother, and himself, wanted to him to be was a subtle shift of mind. In the story of deceit and betrayal above, Jacob considers the power that Isaac has, considers the visible strength Esau has, and considers the disruptive ability of Rebekah, into becoming a powerful patriarch of the ancient world.

On the Highest Self Podcast, Sahara shares a monologue about what she’s seen in Spiritual Glow-Ups1. Towards the end of the podcast, Sahara shares her curiosity about how others perceive her aura and if others resonate with what they felt in her aura2. Sahara plans on checking the comments to see what they felt in Sahara Rose’s field3. Sahara believes this is a fun practice to do with your friends and recommends they play the aura game4. Sahara explains the aura game, a game where people look at celebrities or people they know and try to feel their auric fields5. Once the audience feels something, the participants are to say out loud what they see, and to relate the similarities and differences of how one sees the world compared to others6. Sahara is very excited for this, she believes were in the precipice of a time moving towards telepathic communication, more psychic communication that moves through the heart7. Sahara believes this shift starts with paying attention to people’s energy and less attention to just their words8. Sahara continues, words are particularly a problem in social media, where people focus too much on what people say9. Sahara elaborates that we don’t see the face of the person who wrote the post10. Sahara believes this creates a new paradigm, a wordless paradigm where humans look at one another and speak through consciousness more than any words could say11.

Though the end of the podcast focuses more on aura perception in other people, Sahara focuses on recognizing one’s own aura. In addition to my research into spirituality, I have been exposed to scientific discussions about telepathic communication, and the developing study of how this communication may form. The conversation about sensing people’s aura’s, especially aura’s of those we haven’t met in real life, is an ever evolving discussion about how humans use their senses to communicate. I believe the story of Isaac’s interaction with what he thought was Esau was one of the first stories of people using multiple senses to inform their decisions rather than vocal communication. I wonder how the interaction between Isaac and Jacob could have been different if Isaac took the time to recognize his own aura, his own personality, his own strengths, so he could assess that Jacob was deceiving, pretending to be Esau. I believe Jacob, with the help of Rebekah, did recognize his aura, did recognize who he was and who he wanted to be on a spiritual level, to understand his situation and express his desire well. Like Sahara, I would recommend the aura game, but maybe play by yourself, exploring yourself, to loudly and proudly be the best version of who you want to become.

Louder Discussion

Growing up, I was told to assess spiritual maturity with how long someone had professed to be a believer in Jesus. The amount of mission trips they’ve been on, the positions of leadership they held in the church, and their involvement in the community also played a factor in determining someone’s spiritual maturity or connection with god. This didn’t necessarily account for how much they love their work, but heavily relied on what they felt like god was “calling” them to do, disregarding whether they felt equipped or qualified to complete the task. It was often praised if someone felt less qualified to commit the role, one of the sayings I heard growing up being, “god doesn’t call the equipped, he equips the called”. However, I have found this to be somewhat harmful to certain individuals, people who felt they had to do something due to god or the church calling them to do something they didn’t want to do, or feel comfortable doing well. I would advocate for people to measure their own spiritual maturity based on doing what they love, with intention, care and their own assessment of integrity.

In The Sadhguru Podcast, Sadhguru shares daily wisdom on how people could live in the world12. Sadhguru opens up the podcast telling people to do whatever they want, and to not do what they would be ashamed of tomorrow13. Sadhguru enforces that what other people say shouldn’t matter, and recommends people should keep a level of pride and freedom in their life14. Sadhguru doesn’t believe it matters if the whole world thinks you’re wrong, but again emphasizes to not be ashamed of what they have done or will do15. Sadhguru believes people must do this, they must keep one thing in their life that they won’t give up16. If they do give up the one thing, Sadhguru claims they will live a poor life, even if they have everything, they’ll really have nothing17.

In my opinion, I believe Sadhguru is sharing how to move through the world without judging yourself, and not letting the judgement of others affect you. In the past year, I have been trying to grow in curiosity towards my actions, removing judgment on how I act or present myself in my daily life. I believe asking questions instead of having answers has helped me align myself on who I am becoming and who I want to be, rather than what I think I could have been and what others think I should be. I believe this allows me to do the work I do in my professional life and through Spectrum of Spirit with a renewed sense of meaning, a daily purpose that helps me survive the day. I would recommend trying to find your own dialogue to wrestle your outer experiences with your inner perspective. I would hope this allows you to explore opportunities to pursue artistic endeavors without being ashamed of your work. I would hope implementing an analysis of one’s opportunities would empower an individual to go after their entrepreneurial dreams without worrying about what other people say. I would hope reviewing one’s opportunities for relationships, either romantic or otherwise, could liberate them to have a level of pride in themselves, presenting themselves as confident in who they are and who they want to be. I would hope this internal discussion relating to one’s opportunities catapults them through obstacles in their spiritual journey, allowing their energy to express their journey louder than any combination of words could accomplish.
