We are almost at the year of 2025. In the Lunar Calendar, 2025 is the year of the snake. In the Chinese zodiac, the snake represents wisdom, charm, elegance, and transformation1. In the Hebrew tradition, snakes are associated with divination and fortune telling2. In the Mesopotamian tradition, the snake was seen as immortal3. In the Egyptian tradition, snakes represent divinity, sovereignty, protection and authority4. In the Greek tradition, the snake was portrayed as a guardian5. In the Indian tradition, snakes hold a duality of benevolence and malevolence, seen in areas of water, fertility, protection, destruction, and death6. I could go on, but I think I have enough to make my point. Snakes have plenty of different meanings to cultures around the world, impacting the expressions of people throughout seasons of life. I believe the complex and diverse understanding of snakes symbolizes the year 2025 could represent for all of our lives.
I hope 2025 is a year that marks a turning point in humanity that is beneficial to us all. I hope 2025 is a year where cultural wisdom and transformation is understood and expressed from an individual standpoint. I hope 2025 is a year where underexposed communities are admired for their unique relationship with the divine. I hope 2025 is a year where spirituality’s representation is immortalized. I hope 2025 is a year where people across different faith and cultural backgrounds feel protected and respected in relationships with people of different beliefs. I hope 2025 is a year where art dedicated to speak for cultures is guarded as they transition between tradition and modernity. I hope 2025 is a year where journeys through authentic duality are felt in every aspect of spiritual expression. I believe 2025 will be a year of creatively discovering all aspects of one’s self, through one’s spirit and being.
Emerging in 2025
I believe spirituality is one of the most vital aspects of an individual’s life while also being one of the most complex. I believe religious groups have found ways to simplify the complexities in ways that are beneficial for some and not as beneficial for others. I believe there are a lot of rising trends in spiritual growth that have existed since the beginning that have been reappropriated to our contemporary lives. Though I believe this can be beneficial, I also believe it is important to understand the history of traditions that have been repackaged with new branding. I believe the impact of the new branding has impacted our society in a way that has flown under the radar to why our current world is filled with disagreement and hatred within oneself and communities we are not a part of.
In the Highest Self Podcast, Sahara Rose invites Christopher Witecki to her set for a discussion about astrology7. Towards the start of the episode, Sahara gets right to the point, asking Christopher what are some themes he’s seeing in 20258. Chris starts by stating the themes start in 2024, and states it’s been a smooth year in the outer world because 2024 was all inner world9. Chris continues stating the profound thing in 2024 was Saturn was in Pisces and Neptune was in Pisces and Saturn was last in Pisces 30 years ago10. However, the last time Neptune was in Pisces was just before the Civil War in the United States11. Chris elaborates further, claiming Neptune’s orbit is very large and proposes humans’ moral ground and Neptune’s orbit to Pisces are related12. Chris believes Neptune in Pisces influenced the moral ground of slavery and other controversial moral decisions of humans13. Contrary to the Civil War, Chris believes Neptune in Pisces signifies people taking moral ground in their own lives14. Chris points out that he thinks this year has been interesting because it’s been a year of facing our own stuff, discovering the core of our rhythms and finding where we let ourselves down15. Chris continues stating people have a relationship with themselves and they either work on it or they don’t16. Chris defines Neptune’s orbit to Pisces and how it affects Earth as “are my problems the world’s cause or are my problems my cause”17. Chris believes the core moral shift rests in “who is god, am I the god or is god outside of me”18.
Sahara gives Chris to platform what he’s been noticing in his astrology practice and how it might impact this upcoming year. The core shift he mentions could cause a huge cultural shift in the world as a whole. I believe people’s attitudes towards god changes over time, similarly to how people’s attitude towards their friends or family changes over time. I’m not here to say one is good or bad, however, I would encourage you to take a moment to question your integrity, your intuition, and your idols as we move into a new calendar year.
Chris uses a mix of technology and tradition in his astrology practice that I believe is important for our society as we move from season to season. I believe technology has provided opportunities that are both beneficial and harmful to our society and I believe it is important to recognize what works for you and what doesn’t. I would encourage you to emerge into the changing of the calendar with a curious spirit towards your integrity, your intuition in both your own and the world’s problems, and spiritual idols both within you and outside of you.
Growing in 2025
I believe it is impossible to not grow. I believe in one way or another, in any aspect of a person, we have the potential to recognize how we are changing and growing. In our modern day society, I believe this is something that is recognized, and many people have come together to provide growth opportunities for a multitude of people. A growth service that sticks out to me and is one I am trying to practice more is meditation. Meditation resources are growing across the globe, in retreat centers and also online. I believe there are some similarities between the growth of a plant and the growth possible through mindfulness and meditation. I would encourage you to grow at your own pace.
In The Sadhguru Podcast, Sadhguru explains what meditation means19. Sadhguru describes meditation through a hypothetical20. Sadhguru says if you sit in a place, your body is in that place and your mind is somewhere else21. Sadhguru continues, who you are is split up between the physical body and the mental accumulations dimensions22. Sadhguru says if a little space is made between these two dimensions, this is the end of surfing and the beginning of meditativeness23. Sadhguru concludes with mediation being a simple process and a powerful tool consisting of breath, thought, and awareness24. Sadhguru believes when the three components are used in the right combination, one’s ability to use the mind and the body are enhanced, so much so that you would appear superhuman to someone else25. Sadhguru states, meditation is not about being superhuman, but realizing being human is super26.
Sadhguru reveals to me another perspective on the benefits that can be found in a meditative practice. Meditation recognizes the gap between the mind and the body. I believe the gap between the mind and the body could be the spirit, and this spirit can be cultivated by understanding the disconnect between the two and expressing the disconnect. I believe mediation can boost our physical health through our breath, our mental health through our thoughts, and our emotional health through our awareness. I would encourage you to try to grow in 2025 in these three aspects of yourself, in your own understanding, either through the practice of mediation or whatever practice you feel best expresses yourself.
Qualities in 2025
I believe life is full of creativity. I believe sometimes it can be difficult to find the creativity within our lives due to opportunities and threats. I believe for some, quality of life grows when creativity emerges. As I’ve heard once before, humans were created to be quality creators, and I believe there is a strong connection between life and creating, life and creating life.
In The BoldBrush Show, the host sits down with Kyle Stuckey, an artist in South Carolina, about his road to becoming a full time artist through resiliency, consistency, and dedication27. Later on in the episode, the host admires Kyle’ advice, suggesting one’s influences should have a similar voice or quality28. On the other hand, the host also loves how Kyle still experiments with his artwork, branching out, trying new ways of depicting an image29. Then the host discusses how Kyle’s work has been deemed scattered by some, and galleries usually like an artist’s work to be constant so they know what to expect30. The host talks about the value in allowing oneself to paint for the joy of it31. Lastly, the host mentions how she sees Kyle’s voice in all his work, and Kyle responds with gratitude32. Kyle acknowledges that his desire to paint for his own joy and to be constant enough for galleries to include his work in their shows is a difficult balance for him33. Kyle thinks this balance between profitability and passion will be something he wrestles with life34. Kyle believes no one will grow or learn unless they try something new35. Kyle likes to try new tools to create his art work and possibly mess up the painting, to figure out how to use different tools and apply them on later works36. Again Kyle addresses the difficulty of exploring and balancing creating consistent work for galleries so they know what they can sell that Kyle will be bringing in37.
The podcast production by The BoldBrush Show outlines a lot of Kyle’s art journey showing how important yet difficult resilience, consistency and dedication is for an artist. I enjoyed how Kyle balances preaching the cliche points of success, but also is vulnerable enough to share how he embraces the times he struggles with these three traits. Kyle is resilient as an artist, but I believe it’s not in the typical way, Kyle is resilient to keep painting what he wants and not just what his audience desires. Kyle is consistent as an artist, but I believe it’s not in the typical way. Kyle is not solely concerned with producing work with a consistent theme, but consistently producing work that conveys his voice. Kyle is dedicated as an artist, but I believe its not in the typical way. Kyle is dedicated to producing art, working on multiple pieces at a time, not committing himself to finishing one project before he moves to the next. I believe Kyle embodies these three traits, but he creatively expresses them with his own personality and strengths. I would encourage you as we cross over into a new calendar year, to consider some qualities you would like to grow in, and evaluate all the different ways you can grow in these qualities throughout the season.
Holding in 2025
2025 is a year full of possibilities. Hold on to your spirituality. Encourage yourself through an inner awakening. Embrace your creativity. Journey with resilience. Open and emerge. Grab the courage to grow. Dedicate yourself to desire qualities. Grow in your observations. Inhale and express. Envision your hold on 2025.
